Linseed Oil 3% + Diclofenac Dimethylamine 1% + Methyl Salicylate 10% + Menthol 5% + Benzyl Alcohol 1% gel is categorized as a Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug(NSAID). It is used widely to treat pain and inflammation caused due to muscle or bone issues. Pain caused due to musculoskeletal disorders is common in most people. It helps relieve pain caused by the following conditions:

• Arthritis
• Bone fracture or dislocation
• Post-surgery pain
• Sprains or strains
• Injury to ligaments
• Osteoporosis pain

 

This medication is combinely composed of 5 drugs- methyl salicylate, diclofenac diethylamine, menthol, benzyl alcohol, and linseed oil. Benzyl alcohol and menthol provide cooling and smoothness to the site of injury. Diclofenac and methyl salicylate are pain relievers that work by nullifying the effect of enzymes that cause the sensation of pain. Linseed oil reduces inflammation as it is a strong anti-inflammatory agent. Altogether, this gel reduces the pain and discomfort caused by various joint, tendons,or muscle conditions.

How to Use this Gel?

This medicine is only for external purposes. Donot apply it in your mouth, nose ears or genitals. Doing so may cause pain and irritability.

Wash the affected area.  Generally, it is advised to use this pain relief gel twice or thrice a day. Take the right amount of quantity as prescribed by the doctor and apply it directly to the injury. Gently massage it to ensure absorption. Do not provide excessive heat or coolness to the injury site after applying this medication. Donor wrap or cover the affected area with a band-aid or a cloth until the doctor says so.

Avoid using this gel on uneven skin, cuts, openings, or wounds. Altogether do not use more than 30-32 grams of this diclofenac gel on the body irrespective of the number of joints involved in the pain. Contact your doctor or pharmacist for more details.

1. Clearly discuss your medical history with the doctor. The use of this medication is contraindicated in people suffering from heart conditions, blood pressure(hypertension or hypotension), asthma, liver disease, intestinal problems or blood disorders. Avoid using this medicine without a doctor’s consultation.
2. Inform your doctor if you had previous cases of allergies regarding any painkillers or other medication. This medicine is known to cause allergies in some cases.
3. Pregnant ladies should consult the doctor before using this gel. Using this medicine in pregnancy without the right measures may cause harm to the fetus. Try not to use this medicine in the last trimester of pregnancy.
4. The effects of this medicine in children are unknown as of know. Consult your doctor regarding the usage of it in children. Breastfeeding women should seek medical advice as there are no established effects found out if this drug passes via breastmilk. Avoid going out in the sunlight after applying this medicine.

Along with treating pain effectively, this medicine may not suit everyone. Common side effects can be witnessed in people. This includes rash, burning sensation, itching, and redness of the skin. Most of them are treated on their own as soon as the body adapts this medication.

Special Advise

1. Donot overuse your muscles while performing exercise. They are likely to overstretch and cause muscle pain
2. Massaging may provide short term relief from muscular pain. Gently massage in circular motions near the affected tissue.
3. Avoid excess walking during the course of this medicine. Bedrest is recommended in cases of severe pain.
4. Eat a balanced diet ( protenious diet) to promote fast recovery.

Answer: donot wash the affected area 1 hour after applying the medicine. You can bathe after one hour.
